First Proofreading and Editing Run
Because I provide an excellent service at a great price and I care about the end result of your work.
I do not assign proofreading and editing to other professionals—I prefer to work directly with every client.
During the first proofreading and editing run, every chapter is thoroughly read word-for-word, and checked for grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
I make revisions in Word format and send your work back to you with the revisions noted. It's up to you to review these revisions and decide to apply or reject them. It is important that you, as the owner of your work, are involved in the process, ensuring that the original personality injected into the book remains intact.
Second Proofreading and Editing Run
I perform a second check for grammar and spelling errors, and pay closer attention to sentence structure and sentence flow, as well as the transition between paragraphs and sections.
You receive your book with the second set of revisions either applied by me, or again as suggestions that you can apply yourself.
Layout Run
For an additional cost not included in the proofreading and editing service, I will prepare your work for layout, including consistent margins, headings and sub-headings, a proper table of contents, opening and ending sections, etc. I can save the finished layout in pdf or another format, depending on your printer's specifications.
Rate for Proofreading, Editing and Layout Services:
I perform these services on a per-hour basis, with a retainer paid by the client upon commencement of the work. I will review a sample of your writing before I commit to working with you. The hourly rate for all clients is $35.00 cdn per hour less 10% for proofreading and editing services, and the standard $35.00 per hour for layout services. Canadian clients are subject to HST. Christian material may be eligible for a further hourly discount.
